The two parties spent that night shooting incessantly; but by wednesday morning many of the amirs’ mamlūks had gone over to Minṭāsh. Next there deserted from the army of al-Nāṣirī amir Tamurbāy al-Ḥasanī, great chamberlain, and Qardam al-Ḥasanī, raʾs nawbat al-nuwab, with many other amirs (the majority of them were Yalbughāwīya), and they also became a part of Minṭāsh’s army. Al-Nāṣirī then detailed to give battle to Minṭāsh amirs ʾAḥmad ibn Yalbughā, amir of the council, and Qarā Damurdāsh al-ʾAḥmadī, amir of arms, with a large following. They went down and attacked Minṭāsh’s men with terrific force, but were compelled to retreat several times, and though each time they were led back by Ibn Yalbughā, the latter finally found himself so weakened that he retreated and ascended to the Gate of the Chain.
