815 AH, Su, 01/08:
On Sunday, 01/08, the qāḍī’s, the ʾaʿyān and the whole army came and ascended to the Bāb al-Silsila. Qāḍī al-quḍāt Jalāl al-Dīn al-Bulqīnī came forward and swore an oath to him as sultan. Then amir Shaykh stood up from his conference room, entered the sleeping quarters of the Ḥarrāqa, and left them with the black caliphal khilʿa of the sultanate, as customary. He mounted the relay horse with the signs of the sultanate. The amirs and the ʾarbāb al-dawla walked in front of him, while the qubba and the ṭayr were raised over his head, until he had ascended the citadel. He dismounted and entered the castle of the sultan and sat on the throne of the king. The amirs kissed the ground before him and the drums were beaten. Then his name and his sultanate were announced in Cairo and Miṣr. He gave a robe of honour to the qāḍī’s and the amirs as was customary on this days.
