Summary
As for the matter of Bardbak, the nāʾib of Damascus, when the sultan had sent Timurbāy and Jakam to meet him and to take him to Jerusalem, they had departed in his direction. While travelling, they were informed that he had set out for the Egyptian domains by way of al-Badrīya, hereby not passing through the city of Qaṭyā. According to another report, he did pass through Qaṭyā, but had escaped them (there), and had reached Cairo.
They then immediately returned.
When Bardbak arrived at the outskirts of Cairo, he sent (someone) to his khushdāsh, amir Timur, the wālī l-Qāhira, informing him on his position. Timur then informed the sultan, who then immediately ordered amir ʾUzdamur Timsāḥ al-Ẓāhirī to go to him and to take him to Jerusalem as a baṭṭāl. ʾUzdamur did so.
There are other reports on the coming of Bardbak to Cairo, but, while the wording may differ, their substance is the same.
