The ẓāhirī mamlūks join Minṭāsh, who promises to fulfill their wishes.
His followers are now more than 1000 horsemen

Al-Nāṣirī , who despises Minṭāsh, neglects to prepare his defense, despite his followers’ advice.

The mamlūks of the amirs who were out of service (mamālīk al-ʾumarāʾ al-baṭṭālīn), and others, join Minṭāsh

But his strength “still could not be compared with that of the followers and mamlūks of al-Nāṣirī”
