Minṭāsh continued making his preparations until on shawwāl 7 sultan al-malik al-Manṣūr invested him with a robe and entrusted to him the entire administration of affairs, and Minṭāsh thus became ʾatābak al-ʿasākir as Yalbughā had formerly been. Minṭāsh’s purpose in having this appointment made was to indicate that he had no designs on the sultanate and that he acknowledged the sovereignty of al-malik al-Manṣūr, son of his master.
