The nāʾibs of Egypt are the nāʾib al-kāʾfil, the nāʾib of Alexandria, the nāʾib of al-Wajh al-Bahri, the nāʾib of al-Wajh al-Qibli. They have no authority to appoint officials or to dismiss them, it is the sultan who has this sole right. The nāʾib al-kāfil has in some cases only the right to write on the petitions, but the sultan is the one who executes the writing of the appointments by himself. The nāʾib al-kāfil writes the confirmation on what the sultan writes.
