وفى يوم الأربعاء الخامس من ربيع الآخر ، ركب الأمير قرقماس ، ومعه المماليك الجلبان (وبعض
الأمراء ) وهم غريقون فى اللبس ، ووقفوا أمام بيت الأمير الكبير قرقماس الظاهرى بالرميلة ، ونزل فى
الأصطبل جماعة من المماليك الباشات ، وبعض الأمراء ، ووقع حرب عظيم جدا ، وقتل خلق ، وجرح
آخرون كثيرون ، ونزل السلطان الظاهر إلى المقعد الذى يشرف على الرميلة ، وحرض الزعر ونثر عليهم الدراهم والدنانير ، وقاتلت الزعر قتالا عظيما بالحجارة الكفيات والعصى ، فلم يزل القتال بينهم من
الضحوة الكبرى الى قريب العصر ، ثم انكسر حزب قرقماس وهرب قرقماس ولم يدر إلى أى جهة
قصد . وولى السلطان ولاية القاهرة لابن الطبلاوى عوضا عن لاجين ، وكان من جهة قرقماس.
وقتل فى هذه المعركة جكم النوروزى ، وكان قد أخذ امرة عشرة ، ولم يفرح بها ، ثم نادى السلطان أن
أى من يجئ بالغريم فله ألف دينار ، وأى من حصل من الجلبان فموجوده له ، وروحه للسلطان . وكان
يوما مشهودا.

On this day amir Qurqumās rode out with the Julbān mamlūks, and some amirs, all fully girded. They stopped in front of the house of amir kabīr Qurqumās al-Ẓāhirī in al-Rumayla. The bāshā mamlūks and some of the amirs descended from their horses, and heavy fighting occured.
People got killed, lots of others wounded. Sulṭān al-Ẓāhir descended to the pavilion, looking down on al-Rumayla. He stirred the common people up and distributed dīnārs and dirhams. The people fought a fierce fight with lots of stones and sticks.
They kept fighting each other from the early morning almost to al-ʿaṣr. Then the party of Qurqumās was defeated, Qurqumās fled, not knowing in which direction.
The sulṭān appointed Lājin al-Ṭblāwī as wālī l-Qāhira, replacing, Lājīn.
In this battle Jakam al-Nawrūzī, who just became an amir of ten, which he couldn’t realy enjoy, was killed.
Then the sulṭan announced that everyone who came with an opponent would be granted a thousand dīnār, and who could capture Julbān would be granted generously, and his soul would be for sulṭān. It was a memorable day.
