Summary
Timurbughā administered the office of dawādār thānī with great honor and strength. Fortune came to him, he grew important in the goverment, and his name spread over the regions and his fame was known afar. The ʾarbāb al-ḥawāʾij from all regions sought him, and the affairs of the government came to depend upon him. Compared to him, the dawādār kabīr became like a dawādār ṣaghīr of the ʾajnād in terms of honor and authority.
He remained in that position, until al-Malik al-Ẓāhir Jaqmaq died, God have mercy upon him. Then the latter’s son, al-Malik al-Manṣūr ʿUtmān, became sultan, and, at that point, Timurbughā became the mudabbir of the government, the ṣāḥib al-ʿaqd wa l-ḥall. Compared to him, al-Malik al-Manṣūr was like a sound in the government, while the meaning, that was he, Timurbughā. This was especially true when al-Malik al-Manṣūr seized amir Dawlāt Bāy, the dawādār, amir Yilbāy al-Muʾayyadī, who became sultan himself later on, and amir Yarshbāy al-Muʾayyadī, the ʾamīr ʾākhūr thānī. Timurbughā was then appointed as dawādār kabīr, instead of Dawlāt Bāy. The government of Egypt and its affair thus remained dependent upon him, and everybody was under his orders. After that, however, his days didn’t last, as there was the fitna between al-Malik al-Manṣūr ʿUthmān and his ʾatābak, al-ʾAshraf ʾĪnāl, the conflict in which al-Malik al-Manṣūr ʿUthmān was deposed and al-ʾAshraf ʾĪnāl became sultan after him.
